Those tender juicy hotdogs are the perfect snack whenever you watch your favorite game. Did you know that several hot dog brands, nine to be exact, were contaminated with Listeria in 1998-1999? Over 100 people fell ill and 9 died. These cases truly are the most unexpected ways in which one’s existence is put to a halt.

The recent of these foodborne outbreaks happened last November of 2015. A Mexican restaurant, Chipotle was plagued with an E. Coli outbreak. Just how serious was it? Around 40 of their customers from multiple chains located over different states succumbed to the symptoms of E.Coli.

From the investigation, a common meal or item would have caused the widespread disease, but the exact food item still remains a mystery. While the devastated Mexican restaurant believed that the E.Coli likely came from Australian beef, the CDC stated that it might have been caused by produce such as spinach, sprouts and lettuce.

If you want to walk by the edge of the cliff and no one can stop you, do so with caution. Know how each delicacy should be prepared and always purchase or eat from a reputable restaurant, chef or store. Do your homework. You might want them to sign a waiver while you are at it too.
